COST OF PROGRAM FOR
STUDENTS FROM NON-ENGLISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES: $3,400 (for up to
eighteen months)
The price of the One-World Washington Internship Program is less than
the cost of one semester at many private colleges and universities (and
college credit for the internship seminar and English language course
is available). Some internship programs in the Washington area cost
more than twice the price of the One-World Washington Internship
Program -- even though many do not guarantee placement. The total cost
of the One-World Washington Internship Program is $3,400 (for
individuals participating for up to eighteen months), is not due all
at once but in three separate payments. The first, the application fee,
is entirely refundable for all students not accepted into the program.
The second, the placement fee, is not due until the student has been
offered a job and knows exactly where and when he will be working. The
final payment, the internship fee, is due ONE MONTH before leaving for
the United States. Students can defray these expenses through the job
bank or scholarships they receive. All materials about the curriculum,
syllabus, and internship assignments will be made available, upon
request, to scholarship sources. Interested candidates can apply and
pay online using PAYPAL, an easy and secure payment plan for purchasing
goods and services on the web. Using PAYPAL is quick and easy, and you
need not be a member to pay through this method.

your name and phone number;
All
inquiries will be returned promptly.
Note: any students who
wish to save the annoyance and expense of multiple payments and
express-mail
packets can pay the total amount in two installments or even one.
Visa costs are
additional (as are plane
reservations or other transportation). The Washington Internship
Program has a
preparatory fee of $300 for assistance in visa preparation and
finalizing
paperwork that can often be extensive and take up much of our staff’s
time. If
students are willing and able to do the work themselves, there will be
no
charge.
Visas and health
insurance, which are
required,
can range from $800 to $1,000.
Check with Global
Recruitment, or other companies that may represent
the
Washington Internship Program, to see if there are charges for their
assistance
in your country of origin before you come to the United States. We can
arrange
for assistance at the above-mentioned cost of $300.
Costs, Payment
Schedules, Rejection, and Postponing Internships
If for any reason (like
illness, family problems, or alternate plans) a student needs to drop
out of
the One-World Washington Internship Program, his or her candidacy is
automatically put on "deferral." A deferred student is welcome to
return to the program at any time in the future for the same placement
or a new
one. An intern is not required to return but is welcome to do so. The
fees
charged by the Washington Internship Program are not collected all at
once but
in three separate payments. Therefore, students pay for the program
gradually
as they use specific services, but the entire tuition must be paid at
least a
month before the intern comes to Washington.
The criteria used for
selecting interns are quite broad. They include: English-language
facility,
college or graduate schools attended, academic achievement (grades),
honors and
awards, extracurricular activities, work experience, computer literacy,
travel,
and additional foreign languages. No application sent to Washington
will be
considered without the sum of $1,000, which constitutes the
application
fee, even though this sum will be returned immediately if an intern is
rejected.
(Checks and money orders from rejected candidates will never be cashed,
and
money will be refunded to all credit cards.) The application fee is not
refundable for anyone accepted into the Washington Internship Program
because
we will be working immediately on your behalf to get you a placement in
Washington, giving you a professional editor to help with your
materials, and
otherwise preparing for your arrival.
Applications are
accepted
on a rolling basis, and students should apply as early as possible --
keeping
in mind the fact that finding the right placement might take a month or
two,
and then procuring a visa (after acceptance at a particular internship)
may
take another two months. Therefore, students are encouraged to apply
from three
to twelve months before the date on which they would like to start an
internship. The sooner a person applies, the more positions will still
be
available. (Nevertheless, late applications are accepted.)
* DISCLAIMER
The
Washington
Internship Program cannot be held responsible for accidents an
intern may have in Washington (including car crashes, medical injuries,
or
other problems outside our control). Likewise, acts of man or God --
like
hurricanes, tornados, floods, war, terrorism, disease, earthquakes,
etc., which
might cause interns to defer their candidacy -- will not be treated any
differently than ordinary deferrals. Refunds will not be made for fees
already
paid, but no charges will be levied on services yet to be performed. In
applying to the Washington Internship
Program, the
intern
agrees not to hold the Washington Internship Program responsible for
inappropriate student actions -- like drinking or drug abuse -- which
we
discourage in the strongest possible terms. Similarly, the Washington
Internship Program will do its best to make excellent placements
irrespective
of unforeseen developments (like demonstrations, storms or other
weather-related problems, political and economic occurrences, etc.) for
which
we cannot be held accountable financially or personally.
